Ecomondo 2025: Europe’s Circular Economy Flagship Returns to Rimini

From 4 to 7 November 2025, the Rimini Expo Centre will host the latest edition of Ecomondo, Europe’s leading event for the green and circular economy. With over 100 high-level conferences and a vast exhibition area, the event will once again serve as a key platform for innovation, policy dialogue and industrial transition.

Organised by Italian Exhibition Group, Ecomondo 2025 confirms its central role as a European and Mediterranean hub for circular economy, green technologies, and blue and regenerative bioeconomy. Following the record-breaking 2024 edition – which hosted 1,620 exhibitors, over 650 international buyers and 3,500 B2B meetings – this year’s event expands across 166,000 sqm and seven thematic areas, covering every aspect of ecological transition.

The scientific programme, coordinated by the Technical Scientific Committee led by Prof. Fabio Fava (University of Bologna), will explore critical topics ranging from soil health and critical raw materials to water management, resource recovery and sustainable bioeconomy across Europe, the Mediterranean and Africa.

Key sessions include:

  • An update on EU soil and bioeconomy policies, including the EU Soil Monitoring Law and the Vision for Agriculture and Food, in the context of the “Soil Deal for Europe” mission.

  • Applications of Earth Observation and satellite data for monitoring environmental impact and managing critical raw material supply chains.

  • Advances in resource recovery technologies for end-of-life products, with a focus on the Mediterranean context.

  • Innovative digital and nature-based solutions for resilient water cycle management.

  • Education, innovation, and entrepreneurship opportunities in the Mediterranean and Africa to support next-generation bioeconomy models.

A key moment will be the Green Economy General States, held on 4–5 November, in collaboration with Italy’s Ministry for the Environment and supported by the Foundation for Sustainable Development. The forum will frame the major trends in green transition — such as decarbonisation, circular resource management and sustainable mobility — within the EU’s competitiveness agenda.

The 2024 edition highlighted several achievements: a 6% reduction in CO₂ emissions, over 44% of electricity produced from renewable sources, and Italy’s leading position in circular economy performance. However, challenges remain, such as soil consumption and low adoption rates in sustainable transport.

International participation continues to grow, with delegates from 121 countries and strong representation from North Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America and Asia. Strategic partnerships with ITA (Italian Trade Agency), MAECI and regional governments continue to strengthen Ecomondo’s global network.

For industries operating in plastics, materials recovery and green chemistry, Ecomondo provides a unique opportunity to showcase solutions, follow policy developments and connect with a broad spectrum of stakeholders shaping the future of sustainable production.
