The Polymer Additives Academy will return in 2026 for its fourth edition. The free training initiative is organised by Greenchemicals and Polichem in collaboration with SUPSI, KraussMaffei Extrusion and the Department of Energy at Politecnico di Milano.
This year’s programme has been reorganised into three thematic afternoon sessions, designed to facilitate participation both on site and remotely. Each meeting will conclude with a round table and an informal networking session.
A newly established scientific committee will oversee the programme. Its members are Micaela Lorenzi, CEO of Greenchemicals; Andrea Castrovinci and Fabio Parolini of SUPSI; Massimo Ricci, Expert Sales Manager at KraussMaffei Extrusion; and Lidia Castoldi of Politecnico di Milano’s Department of Energy.
The first session, scheduled for 10 September at SUPSI in Mendrisio, will focus on fire safety in buildings and public environments. Topics will include fire safety requirements for construction products, testing methods, photovoltaic systems, flame-retardant additives for expanded polymers and reduced-scale testing for product development.
Speakers will include Jürgen Troitzsch of Fire and Environment Protection Service, Giombattista Traina of Istituto Giordano, Fabio Parolini and Andrea Castrovinci of SUPSI, and Micaela Lorenzi of Greenchemicals.
The second announced session will take place on 29 October at Politecnico di Milano and will address the phase-out of regulated substances and the development of sustainable alternatives. The programme will cover fluoropolymer substitution, PFAS-free coatings, Life Cycle Assessment, the replacement of flame-retardant molecules and the impact of REACH on polymer stabiliser formulations.
Speakers will include Jaime Sales of Chemservice, Anna Rita De Corso of SUPSI, Paola Gallo Stampino of Politecnico di Milano, Micaela Lorenzi and polymer additives specialist Roberto Todesco.
