In standard RAS filters, the discharging phase can cause pressure drops that directly impact product quality. In extrusion production lines – especially for producing thin-wall pipes, sheets, or applications requiring flawless surfaces – this instability may lead to visible defects, thickness variations, or compromised aesthetics. It can also reduce the performance of downstream equipment, such as die freezing issues in sensitive underwater pelletizers or serious difficulties in manual strand pelletizing. In these cases, material quality and production efficiency may no longer be acceptable.
The solution: RPS Filter
To overcome these limitations, FIMIC has developed RPS – RAS PRESSURE SCREW, a new innovative filter designed for customers who require stable pressure downstream of the filter and reduced plastic losses during discharge.
How does it work?
The RPS integrates two combined technologies:
- A continuous discharge screw, separately operated and water-cooled, ensuring constant discharge and stable working pressure.
- A piston for forced scraper cleaning, activated when necessary, to guarantee effective removal of contaminants.
Advantages of RPS
The RPS filter ensures very stable working pressures thanks to a continuous and smooth cleaning process, while also reducing dependency on inlet pressure for scraper channel cleaning. This innovative design allows manufacturers to achieve improved product quality, even in highly sensitive extrusion lines where precision and consistency are crucial.
Application fields
RPS is recommended for extrusion lines requiring constant pressure and flawless surfaces, as well as for sensitive downstream equipment like underwater pelletizers or manual strand pelletizers. It is suitable for filtrations, throughputs, and materials similar to RAS filters, but preferably with contamination levels below 2% and particle sizes smaller than 4 mm.
The RPS filter is available in three sizes – RPS 400, RPS 500, and RPS 600 – to meet different production needs.
With RPS, FIMIC confirms its role as a pioneer in advanced filtration technologies for plastics recycling. By ensuring stable pressure, reducing melt losses, and guaranteeing constant product quality, the RPS filter provides recyclers and manufacturers with a powerful tool to face today’s production challenges.
This latest innovation reflects FIMIC’s ongoing commitment to supporting the industry with reliable, efficient, and future-oriented solutions that enable both competitiveness and sustainability.
