In 2025, COMERIO ERCOLE celebrates its 140th anniversary (1885–2025), marking the occasion with the release of a commemorative book that traces the company’s long and rich industrial history. The 272-page volume brings together historical milestones, personal anecdotes, technological breakthroughs, and forward-looking insights, testifying to a journey deeply grounded in tradition yet propelled by a strong drive toward innovation.

Headquartered in Busto Arsizio, with 250 employees across the group, COMERIO ERCOLE exports 94% of its production globally. At the heart of this success lies its most valuable asset: people.

The story began in 1885, when Ercole Comerio (1860–1947), affectionately known as “Ul Balösu,” launched his entrepreneurial venture, the same year he married Teresa Marcora (1866–1952). Since then, a strong family and industrial legacy has taken shape, growing through a virtuous blend of experience and technological vision.

“Our company DNA is based on a deep respect for tradition and a constant drive toward the future,” says President Riccardo Comerio. “Each day brings new challenges that inspire us to keep improving.”

Economic journalist Luciano Landoni, who penned the afterword of the book, adds:
“COMERIO ERCOLE’s entrepreneurial example is highly motivating, especially for younger generations who, now more than ever, need tangible inspiration rooted in competence, passion, and vision.”

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the company will open the doors of its main production site in Busto Arsizio on Friday, June 6, welcoming institutions and stakeholders to showcase two major advancements:

  • The launch of a new INDUSTRY 5.0 universal work center

  • The expansion of the Research & Development technology center, now enhanced with two experimental machines (one for mixing and one for calendering), both equipped with an innovative longitudinal stretching system for thin films.

The primary lab functions as a miniature factory, featuring a configurable 4-roll calendering line (adaptable to 3 or 5 rolls), dual feeding systems via direct extrusion or internal/external mixers, and now, an internal mixer as well. A second lab houses a dedicated embossing line for films and nonwovens, capable of handling up to 100 different surface designs for material enhancement.

These strategic investments further strengthen COMERIO ERCOLE’s R&D capabilities, reinforcing its role as a reliable partner in developing cutting-edge processes for the polymer and elastomer industries. The company continues to demonstrate its commitment to excellence in quality, technology, and service, now as ever.
